Five HR Mistakes Small Businesses Can Address Early

Simple habits can make people decisions more consistent as a team grows.

When a business is small, people processes often live in an owner's memory. That can work for a while, but it becomes harder to repeat decisions consistently as more managers and employees join.

A useful place to begin is with clear role expectations, consistent documentation, a reliable onboarding routine, written workplace guidance, and a habit of asking for help when an issue is outside your expertise.

You do not need to build a large HR department to make progress. Pick one process that causes recurring confusion, agree on who owns it, and write down the next steps in plain language.
